After The Cover - A Personal Note

By the time Chocolate Dreams book is released for people all over the world to enjoy, the project will have spanned just shy of five and a half years from concept to completion.

There's something to be said for the level of persistence and determination it takes to allow a project to take that amount of time but not just complete it, put everything you have into it. In 2013, when I started from scratch (a process I covered in an earlier post) anyone could have been forgiven for thinking that I was never going to finish Chocolate Dreams. But what most don't realise, is that Chocolate Dreams book has been more than just a picture book, it's been a beacon to guide me in a positive direction after the heartbreaking experience of the separation from my daughter. The decision to start over and see this project through to the end no matter what, wasn't just something I wanted to do, it was something I had to do so that I could put the past behind me and to turn an experience that could very easily have broken me into an experience that defined me.

In 2014 after a few personal realisations I made a decision to take a risk and quit my full time job to finally finish the book. I didn't just owe it to myself and Stella, I felt I owed it to a small and incredible group of people who believed in me and this project the entire time (you know who you are and thank you). That year I also learned the hard way that I was never going to allow myself to fully embrace love again until I finished what I'd started...
